All new cars with diesel in Germany (October 2024)
Is the diesel dead? Not at all, in Germany he still has his followers (in both senses of the word). According to the KBA, the diesel share of new registrations in September 2024 was around 15 percent. Nevertheless, this is a minus of 22 percent compared to the previous year. But which brands actually still offer new cars with diesel?
We have created this overview for you. To come back to the initial question: There are fewer and fewer brands, as large corporations like Stellantis almost no longer rely on diesel in passenger cars. However, German brands in particular continue to hold on to diesel engines. They know how important diesel is for their German fleet business. Globally, however, diesel no longer plays a role in large markets such as the USA and China.

An exception is the commercial vehicle sector. We have also largely excluded him from our overview here. Another exception? Models that are also in demand among private customers, such as a VW Caddy. We have refrained from quoting prices, this point changes too quickly. The only thing that helps here is to take a daily look at the relevant online configurator.

Even the first brand is a bit of a surprise: We would not have expected diesel from Alfa Romeo, but they still have three diesel engines in their range. They are divided between the Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio series.

BMW
For similar reasons to Audi, BMW also equips almost its entire range for the German market with diesel engines. In model series such as the 5 Series, there are gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrids and pure electric drive. At the same time, the diesels differ from each other depending on the body shape of a model series. Anything above 3.0 liters of displacement is a six-cylinder.
